Ruthann was licensed by the State of Texas as a chemical dependency counselor in 1994. In addition to state licensure, she is a National Certified Addictions Counselor I and holds a Master’s Degree in Addiction Counseling from Grand Canyon University and a Bachelor’s Degree from Indiana University.
Ruthann has been employed by the Memorial Hermann Prevention and Recovery Center since 2002 as Program Manager and has served as Program Director since 2006, managing the residential, partial, day, evening and intensive outpatient programs. As a line counselor, Ruthann worked extensively with dual diagnosed adult patients and their families, realizing the importance of engaging patients in their recovery. “Ruthless,” as nicknamed by her patients, has a reputation as a caring, empathetic and no-nonsense counselor. Physicians, EAPs and peers in the mental health community respect Ruthann for her unwavering dedication to patient welfare.
Ruthann served as Chairperson for the Texas Association of Addiction Professionals in 2005 and the SPECTRUM Conference in 2006. She was voted TAAP member of the year in 2009. Ruthann received the inaugural Outstanding Clinical Director of the Year Award from Addiction Professional Magazine.
